Filing Forms with Foreign or Military Addresses

Filing Forms with Foreign Addresses

The Yearli website can file forms that contain foreign addresses to the federal government and process the forms for mailing. Yearli does not offer the filing of W-2s or 1099s to state agencies when a foreign address is present.

There will be an additional $1 fee for each foreign address form submitted for recipient mailing. This is due to the additional mailing costs incurred.

Manually Enter Foreign Address Information

During the recipient entry process, either in the form itself or the Manage Payers and Recipients page, enter the recipient name and TIN information, then select the appropriate country code from the drop-down menu.

Once the country code has been selected, the required fields will change to reflect that address type. For example, if Canada is selected, the State field disappears, the Province field will appear, and will be a required field.

Import Foreign Address Information

While filling out the template, you will enter the payer information as usual, then follow the steps below to fill out the recipient foreign address information.

  1. Enter the recipient TIN in the Recipient Identification Number column.
  2. Enter the first name in the Recipient First Name column.
  3. Enter the last name in the Recipient Last Name column.
  4. Fill out the Recipient Address 1 field.
    • Use Recipient Address 2 if needed.
  5. Enter the Recipient City.
  6. Skip the Recipient State and Recipient Zip columns.
    • These fields have red headers and are therefore "required" fields, but the Foreign Address Indicator over-rides this requirement.
  7. In the Recipient Foreign Address Indicator field, enter X, True, T, or 1 to check the box.
    • Failure to check this box will result in errors during import.
  8. Enter the Recipient Foreign State Name.
    • This will be a 2 letter abbreviation for the state or province.
    • For example, for Ontario, ON must be entered in the foreign state name field.
  9. Enter the Recipient Foreign Postal Code.
  10. Enter the Recipient Foreign Country Code.
