Exporting from McLeod
W-2 and 1099 data can be compiled within LoadMaster® and PowerBroker®, exported as an Excel (.xlsx) file, and imported to Yearli following the steps below.
- Complete the following steps as explained in the Tax Guide – W-2 / 1099 Preparation & Printing document (McLeod Software Financial Software Services, 2021).
- Run the Copy Tax Definition Records program.
- Add or update the Tax Year Setup.
- W-2 / 1099 form templates do not have to be configured within this screen.
- Verify that 1099 payees and vendors are set to receive a 1099 as applicable.
- Set the 1099 box code in Payables History.
- Run the Transfer Tax Data program.
- Review and verify tax data.
- If health care costs are to appear in box 12 (code DD) of the W-2, costs must be entered or imported prior to running the Transfer Tax Data program.
- Refer to the Tax How-to – Health Care Cost Reporting for W-2 document (McLeod Software Financial Software Services, 2021).
- Within the Tax Data Review screen (Sys Admin | W-2/1099 | Tax Data Review), query records for the tax year as follows:
- Use the Search toolbar button.
- Populate the Tax year field with the appropriate year.
- Execute the search.
- After executing the search, select the List button to list records.
- From the Tax Data Review Listing screen, select the Config button.
- From the List Configuration screen, verify that column checkboxes are selected to include all columns in the listing.
- The Show All button can be used to select all columns.
- Click OK to return to the listing.
Caution: It is recommended to verify data for the tax year within the listing or Tax Data Review screen before exporting to the third-party filer.
- From the Tax Data Review Listing screen, right-click on one of the grid rows and select Export to Excel.
- From the Save File screen, navigate to an appropriate location on the computer or network where the file should be placed.
- Ensure that the selected file location allows access for users that will need to access the file.
- After navigating to the appropriate location, type a name for the file at the end of the File name field.
- Select “Microsoft Excel 2007+ (*.xlsx)” within the Files of type field.
- Click the Save button.
Importing into Yearli
- Log in to your Yearli account.
- In the blue Getting Started section, click the "Import Forms / Templates" button.
- Scroll down to the McLeod import option, and click the box to select it.
- Select the form type to import.
- Click "Browse for File".
- Locate the export file created with the steps above.
- Highlight the file and click "open".
- Click "Import".
